Have you been wondering what kind of tree is growing in your yard? Maybe you want to learn a fun new skill? Well, you're in luck, because the Central Texas Seed Savers and TreeFolks are coming to Pease Park to lead a Tree ID lesson to help you learn a little more about what's growing around you!

Folks of all ages can learn about the key characteristics that help differentiate one tree from another, and apply those skills afterward to help keep our urban ecosystem diverse and resilient.

We will gather on the lawn next to the big picnic tables right before heading out on the walk.

Dr. Curtis Eckerman, Department Chair of Biology at Austin Community College, is a friend of Pease Park and an expert in moths. Each year he leads his students in moth studies in Kingsbury Commons and wishes to share this passion with others. He and his class will be stationed along the Eastern trail of Kingsbury Commons between 7:00 and 9:00pm. Stop by to learn about some of the species found within Pease Park and build community in conservation.

Join us for a storytime of Miguel Antony Briones’ children’s book MACHO NO MACHISMO!

Miguel Antony Briones is an award-winning educator, community organizer, public speaker, and self-published author and illustrator of the bilingual children's book Como Mi Padrino. He was born and raised in the Central 79930 neighborhood of El Paso, Texas. Once a young travieso (mischievous child), he now writes about the experiences and culture that shaped his perception and outlook on life.

Hill Country Ride for AIDS Red Flag Installation Ceremony

In anticipation of the 2024 Hill Country Ride for AIDS that will take place on April 20th, HCRA will install small red flags along the trail in Pease Park representing loved ones affected by HIV/AIDS.

This mile of red flags, known as the Mile of Silence, will remain in place for a couple of weeks. Join HCRA on April 4th to learn more about the upcoming 2023 ride or to add a flag to the Pease Park installation.

PPC is excited to partner with the Violet Crown Platers’ Diverse Space Youth Dance Company for an outdoor installment of their movement-based performance False Starts, Falls, Fouls [The Art of Making Mistakes]!

This performance is a FREE-for-all all opportunity to support local art and youth dance initiatives. Since this is a moving performance, we will begin at the ring of Sycamore trees next to the Picnic Tables and make our way to the Tudor Cottage and Terrace, the Amphitheater, Treehouse, and trails on the Kingsbury hillside.

Please note the MLK Day Food Drive will take place on Thursday, January 18th from 10:00am-5:00pm at the Tudor Cottage and Terrace.

In honor of Martin Luther King Day 2024, please bring donations to the Pease Park Conservancy MLK Day Food Drive supporting the Central Texas Food Bank! Feel free to bring extra cardboard boxes to make sorting and transporting easier.

Most needed items include peanut butter, canned chicken breast or tuna, canned low sodium vegetables, fruit in its own juice, dry pinto beans, brown rice, dry pasta, nonfat dry milk powder, 100% whole grain cereal, tomato sauce, canned tomatoes, canned entrees. Drop your items off with Pease Park Conservancy Staff on Thursday, January 18th from 10:00am - 5:00pm.

Caminata de Conservación | Conservation Walk

Join Pease Park Conservancy for a bilingual Conservation Walk throughout Pease Park!

¡Unase con Pease Park Conservancy para una caminata de conservación bilingüe en el parque Pease!

Latino Conservation Week, is an initiative of the Hispanic Access Foundation as a way to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. To celebrate this Pease Park Conservancy is putting together a bilingual Conservation Walk through Pease Park. We will be enjoying the space by learning about conservation projects in the park, identifying native and invasive species, and celebrating community. We will meet at the Tudor Cottage and Terrace in Kingsbury Commons and make our way through the hillside trails and main trails of Kingsbury Commons before returning to the Tudor Cottage and Terrace for drinks and swag.

La semana de conservación latina es una iniciativa de la fundación de acceso hispáno como una manera de apoyar a la comunidad a salir al aire libre, y participar en actividades para proteger a nuestros recursos naturales. Para celebrar esta iniciativa, Pease Park Conservancy estará presentando una caminata de conservación bilingüe en el Pavillon Kingsbury. Estaremos disfrutando y apreciando el parque, aprendiando de la historia del parque y aprender sobre los proyectos activos de conservación como una comunidad. Además vamos a identificar algunas especies nativas e invasoras. Nos encontraremos en la cabaña y terraza tudor y continuaremos la caminata en las colinas que abrazan el parque.  La caminata se terminará con el regreso a la cabana por refrescos y materiales gratis.

Kingsbury Commons Trail Restoration Day

Join PPC's Conservation Team as we restore the trails and help protect them from erosion in celebration of National Trails Day!

Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes you do not mind getting dirty. Pease Park Conservancy will provide all necessary tools and instruction. After we work on the trails join us for some refreshments and community building.
