Pease Corps is our volunteer workforce and the backbone of the Conservancy. Thanks to our Pease Corps, more than 3,000 trees have been planted, the lawn and canopy have been restored, and hundreds of harmful, invasive species have been removed.

Pease Corps Events For Your Group

The Conservancy will work with you to organize a group Pease Corps event for your team, neighborhood, or business. We will be there the day of the event to lead your group through the work.

Here are some examples of the type of projects we can lead for your group (options will vary by season):

  • Mulching Trees Drip Zones - protects the roots from soil compaction, prevents water runoff, and provides a micro-climate that shields the roots from high and low temperatures

  • Seeding Native Grasses & Wildflowers - stabilizes the creek bank and provides food for our vital pollinator species

  • Removing Ragweed - prevents a native but aggressive allergen from taking up large swaths of parkland preventing other plants from taking root

  • Identifying & Removing Invasive Species - helps maintain a healthy ecosystem by removing species such as Ligustrum, Chinese Privet, and Catclaw that crowd out native species without providing sustenance for the fauna that live in the park.

  • Spreading Mulch & Compost - helps produce a healthy lawn and provide a layer of topsoil that is regularly stripped away from overuse.

  • Litter Removal - keeps the park clean and safeguards our waterways from pollution. As one of the lowest points in Austin, Pease Park acts as a sponge, collecting litter runoff from all of the surrounding neighborhoods

  • Tree Watering - protects the park’s canopy during periods of drought

  • Flowerbed & Pollinator Garden Maintenance - keeps the park looking beautiful and the bees, butterflies, hummingbirds coming back for more

Pease Corps Do-It-Yourself Program

Before you volunteer on your own in Pease Park for the first time, please register with us through GivePulse. You only need to do this registration once and you won’t have to commit to a certain day or time for your volunteer work. This helps us know who is a part of our Pease Corps and helps us to track the collective impact we are having on the park.

Then, when you are ready to volunteer by yourself or with your closest family members or friends, please check out the options below. The links here will take you to detailed instructions about what to do to help us keep the park clean and beautiful.
