“Spending time in nature can act as a balm for our busy brains.”

Kirsten Weir, Nurtured by Nature, American Psychological association

Healthcare research is increasingly demonstrating that spending time outdoors is linked to cognitive, mental health, and emotional benefits for the individual. Detailed in the article Nurtured by Nature are the many ways that nature can have a positive impact on our mental health - including improved attention, lower stress, better mood, reduced risk of psychiatric disorders, and even upticks in empathy and cooperation.

Through Pease Rx we provide the community with simple, free, and accessible ways to improve your health by spending time outdoors. Time in nature can be spent alone, alongside a healthcare provider, or in a group setting at one of our many outdoor wellness programs or by simply walking the trails or relaxing on the lawn.

Take Your Work Outside

We can be productive in a variety of work environments. Working outside for a couple of hours can turn a stressful day around and a change of scenery can trigger creativity and new ideas.

In Kingsbury Commons, you have access to free WI-FI, tables and chairs where you can work, tacos from the Mariachi food truck, coffee from Brother Friend, and a Snow Box from SnoRide if you are there while they are open.

Are You a Healthcare Provider?

Join our community of healthcare providers who are experiencing the benefits of time outdoors alongside their patients and clients. Provide us with your contact information and we will stay in touch about our Pease Rx program that is intended to improve our community’s collective mental and physical health.

Want to Track Your Time in the Outdoors?

Install NatureDose on your smartphone to track how much time you are spending in the outdoors. This can help you set goals and measure how time in the outdoors impacts your moods and mental health.
