Pease Park is an accessible and safe space for Austinites to play, exercise, and connect with one another. The Conservancy is connected with the Austin Police Department, the Austin City Council, Austin Parks and Recreation Department, and other local organizations to ensure the safety of visitors to our park.

YOU can also play a key role in making sure Pease Park continues to be a safe space for all. If you see something at the park that might be a safety concern, please help us to address it by contacting info@peasepark.org.

If you or someone in the park is in immediate danger, please call 911.

Park Rules

When visiting Pease Park, please be aware and respectful of park rules published by the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. These rules can be found here. Violations of these rules can be reported through the 311 app and to Pease Park Conservancy at info@peasepark.org.

We have highlighted a few of the rules we would like guests to be more aware of, and included a brief explanation of them below.

Interactive Water Feature in Kingsbury Commons

Please supervise your children while they are playing in the interactive water feature. We want to make sure children of all ages and abilities are safe when playing in this feature.

Do not change diapers or open food within 6 feet of the water feature. Please do not allow your dogs to enter the water feature. The chemicals are balanced for the water each morning to make sure the water is clean and safe for play. Please help us ensure that it stays clean all day.

If you or your children are feeling ill, please do not play in the water feature.

Glass, bubbles, rocks, skateboards, rollerblades, and bicycles are not allowed in the water play area.

Dogs in the Park

Pets should be controlled on a leash except in designated off-leash areas. The designated off-leash area in Pease Park is between 24th Street and 29th Street. All pet waste should be picked up and disposed of in trash receptacles.

Dogs are not allowed in the interactive water feature or in the Treehouse in Kingsbury Commons. Service dogs are the only exception to this rule. All dogs should be on-leash in Kingsbury Commons.

STAKING IN THE PARK

Please note that under no circumstances individuals can stake items into the ground at the park. This includes signage, sports equipment, tents, etc.

Inflatables & amusement amenities

Use of inflatable bounce houses, moonwalks, climbing walls, dunking booths, and mechanical rides are prohibited. Petting zoos and other amusement amenities must be disclosed to info@peasepark.org and require approval. Vendors, amusement contractors, or subcontractors are required to maintain insurance (and must provide required certificates of insurance prior to entering Pease Park) and must adhere to all State and local inspection requirements.

CAMPING IN THE PARK

Please be assured that the Conservancy is committed to working with the City of Austin and the Homeless Outreach Street Team (HOST) to ensure that existing laws prohibiting camping on parkland are enforced. We believe our city’s public green spaces MUST remain clean and safe for our community to enjoy. The Conservancy is committed to keeping Pease Park safe, clean, and healthy. Pease Park Conservancy continues to work with city leaders to advocate for enforcement of the camping ban in public parks as part of the overall matrix for dealing with this complex citywide problem.

If you see a violation of the camping ban at Pease Park, please report the situation using the 311 app (choose “Homelessness in City Parks”) and let us know as well by sending the information (please include images) to info@peasepark.org. We encourage you to reach out to the City Council about this issue. You can identify your City Council member’s contact information here.

Pease Park Conservancy is sympathetic to the plight of people experiencing homelessness and we collaborate with leading organizations who can best provide the services needed.

Organizations in the Austin area that serve people experiencing homelessness are following the housing-first model and are expanding capacity as quickly as possible to provide rapid housing and then wrap people with services they need to help them succeed. Adults of any age who are sleeping outside, in a car or other place not meant for human habitation, or in an emergency shelter should complete the Coordinated Assessment for housing and services. Please see this flyer for details on where these individuals should go to complete this assessment.

Several organizations in Austin are leaders in the area of homelessness and have pages on their websites that provide guidance for people in need of housing or services. Visit the pages of the organizations at the right for more information.

Unsafe Terrain or Park Maintenance Issues

If you find a trail or maintenance issue in the park that needs attention, please report the issue using the 311 app and choose the service “Park Grounds Maintenance.”

Park Graffiti

Please report graffiti in the park using the 311 app and choose the service “Park Graffiti.” Please also send us a photo to info@peasepark.org.
