They are the force behind the changes that happen in the park. We value every hour volunteered because it helps us in more ways than you might think.
Not only are our volunteers making real changes to the park, but every hour we can track and report gives us more clout when we need to advocate for decisions being made by the city regarding our beloved park, as well as giving us a reputation as an organization worth supporting when applying for various grants.
In order to help track volunteer hours and confirmations, we would kindly ask you to register for our volunteer events through the website GivePulse. If you’d rather not register there, we never turn away a good volunteer so you can come out and simply signup there. Either way, we want your help, because we can’t do it without you!

As the Watershed Protection Department (WPD) Shoal Creek Restoration Project wraps up, we've partnered with WPD and PARD Urban Forestry to reforest the area where the new 24th Street bikeway was constructed. This area, known as Caswell Shoals, soon opens to the public as commuters and pedestrians will now be moved onto a trail under the 24th Street bridge, avoiding traffic at 24th & Lamar.
The new trees will not only beautify the area, but they will serve the important purpose of providing shade to trail users. Beyond that, the trees will help stabilize the soil near Shoal Creek, slow floodwaters, and improve water quality of runoff draining into the creek.

In partnership with our friends at Treefolks, we'll be hosting a Tree ID walk in Pease Park and the Shoal Creek Greenbelt on Monday, March 21st. As most know, we got our start in 2008 as Trees for Pease and have planted over 2,750 native trees since that time. Trees are near and dear to our mission, and nobody has done more for the tree canopy of central Texas than Treefolks. You could call us both 'tree nerds'.
This will be great opportunity to take your tree knowledge to a new level! You'll have a chance to identify trees, learning about proper pruning and care, hear about our efforts to increase the tree canopy from 65% to 80%, and most importantly understand why urban trees are so vital to a healthy community.
Head to TreeFolks Facebook and webpage to register!

Our wonderful friends T3 and Benchmark Bank Austin are again allowing us to use their parking lot and garage to raise funds for the park. For only $15 a vehicle you can park conveniently across from Pease and walk to Austin's favorite annual rite of Spring.
Here's what makes this occasion worthwhile and in the spirit of Eeyore's Birthday Party; all proceeds go directly back to Pease Park! Funds will go to support our volunteer program, tree planting efforts, and general improvements to Pease Park.
Contact Tim Eishcen at teischen(AT)peasepark.org to sign up for a volunteer shift. We'll have some PPC items for all the volunteers, as well as snacks and refreshments!
