Ecologist School Family Day

  • Kingsbury Commons at Pease Park 1100 Kingsbury Street Austin, TX, 78703 United States (map)

Field trips are for all! Come to Pease Park for a family excursion! Pease Park Conservancy and Families in Nature will be leading an Ecologist School Field Trip for families at Pease Park! Parents, guardians, and kids are welcome to not only learn about the joint service-learning program but experience the opportunity for themselves! We will be leading a field trip for families with various stations and lessons throughout Kingsbury Commons and giving parents/guardians a taste of what an excursion to Pease Park is like!

About the Ecologist School Field Trip Program: The Ecologist School Field Trip program is a joint effort between Pease Park Conservancy and Families in Nature that brings students to the park for a service-learning experience. Field Trip curriculum is based off of the Pease Park Edition of the Ecologist School Pocket Guide - a booklet created by Families in Nature which includes 64 lessons spanning 16 fields of study that are in turn based off of school TEKS.

Research has demonstrated that time spent outdoors positively impacts children's physical, emotional, and intellectual development. Pease Park Conservancy and Families In Nature have developed a robust children’s field trip program that activates Pease Park as an outdoor classroom and engages kids of all ages in experiencing the sights, scents, sounds, and textures of the outdoors. Through this program we aim to help students…

  • engage with nature

  • improve environmental literacy

  • learn more about an expanding field of study and potential career path
