What to Expect:
Classes begin with breathwork and an intention to explore while preparing the body and mind for movement through a vinyasa flow. Brooke’s style of Dharma yoga blends classical Indian yoga with Zen and Buddhist meditations. Your body is your best teacher so Brooke invites you to connect with and advocate for what your body needs during your time on the yoga mat.

Yoga en español is taught in Spanish with English and Sanskrit sprinkled throughout. This sacred time is for you to be with you. Brooke will guide you through heart-openers, twists, hip-openers, and balancing postures until the final few minutes of class where you will experience a restorative savasana rest.

Suitable for all body types and language speakers, this class will connect you with your inner peace and strength. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned yogi, the class invites you to move authentically through asanas (postures), pranayama (breath), and meditation.

About Brooke Maudlin and Cálmate Yoga
Brooke aka Cálmate Yoga, teaches hatha yoga in Spanish and English thanks to her curiosity for blending language, culture, and yoga. She knows the benefits of yoga can and should reach into the multilingual communities in Austin. Everyone can experience the transformational power of yoga and will learn how their hour on a yoga mat can impact the other 23 hours of the day. Both as a teacher and a student, Brooke values body positivity, mindful movement, and above all - community. By blending Spanish language, culture, and yoga in a bilingual environment we create a more inclusive and diverse community.

Brooke now teaches Dharma Yoga through a bilingual lens after teaching high school Spanish for over a decade in south Austin. Her classes combine yoga philosophy and mindful movement to engage the body and spirit in order to calm the nervous system and quiet the mind.

Brooke graduated from UT Austin in 2001 and completed graduate school at St. Edward’s in 2012. She is a certified teacher of Dharma Yoga based in Austin, Texas. Yoga has been a part of her life for 20 years and she truly believes that yoga is a gift worth sharing. You can find events and inspirations @calmateyoga
