Kingsbury Commons Closing for Construction Feb 19th

Dear Friends,

Exciting news! On January 28th, the City of Austin Planning Commission unanimously approved the Kingsbury Commons Site Development Plan! This is a huge milestone for the project, and we are in the final stages of obtaining Notice to Proceed from PARD. We anticipate that construction will begin on Wednesday, February 19th.

Please be aware that Kingsbury Commons, the lower 7 acres of Pease Park, will be closed to the public for approximately twelve months as we undertake the construction of this major capital improvement project. The trail along the eastern side of Kingsbury Commons along Shoal Creek will remain open throughout the duration of the construction, as will the remaining 70+ acres of Pease Park. Trail users will still be able to access the trail from the 15th Street and Lamar entrance south of Kingsbury Commons, as well as the Custer’s Meadow entrance at Parkway to the North of Kingsbury Commons.

Eeyore’s Birthday Party will still be in Pease Park, but it will be outside of the active construction zone. Check eeyores.org for information.

We will continue to post updates about the project on our website and look forward to sharing the progress with everyone. We, at Pease Park Conservancy, are thrilled to be working on the transformation of Kingsbury Commons into a world-class green space for all of Austin to enjoy!

Please reach out to us at info@peasepark.org if you have any questions.

The Pease Park Conservancy Team
