Pease Park's Newest Residents are a real hoot!

Pease Park Conservancy recently tasked our friend Marshall May to install 30 hand-made owl boxes to house Eastern Screech-Owls all over Pease Park. The boxes were installed in an effort to increase available habitat for the owls and make Pease Park a small sanctuary within the city.

Since their introduction we have been keeping a close eye on the homes in hopes of spotting nesting owls. After months of patiently waiting, we are elated to announce that Eastern Screech-Owls are Pease Park’s newest residents!

On a morning visit to Pease Park, Patricia Albright was walking down the main path and to her surprise saw an owl perched on one of the homes. She immediately snapped pictures and shared them with us.

“I can’t tell you how excited I was to see a sweet owl in one of the boxes this morning,” says Patricia.

We are thankful for her sharing her pictures and the awesome news with us. Keep an out for owls the next time you’re in the park!
