October 2021 PPC Newsletter: Join the Fun - Day or Night

In our recent Sustainability Spotlight series we shared that Kingsbury Commons was designed to encourage community connections. We see this come to life each day and night as our park visitors gather with friends and family for play and relaxation throughout all of Pease Park.

A New Partnership

Pease Park Conservancy has recently partnered with Leave No Trace, an organization that disseminates information about how to recreate in public spaces in a responsible way.

The first Leave No Trace principle we want to highlight includes taking care of your trash with minimal impact on the environment.

We have trash and recycling bins in the park for your use. Please trash food scraps or take them to your home compost bin. Please only put plastic bottles and aluminum cans in our recycling bins.

What We’ve Learned From You

Park visitors have been sharing feedback with us through our Park Visitor Survey for about a month and we’ve already learned a lot.

People are coming to play and relax in Pease Park from all over Austin and its surrounding areas (purple areas on the map above).

Input on our survey helps us understand who is visiting Pease and who is not, so we can seek out ways to make sure everyone feels welcome.

We’re so pleased to hear through survey responses that Pease Park generally makes people feel “happy” and “peaceful”.

If you have constructive criticism to share, we are paying attention to those responses too and using that feedback to improve our park, programs, and events.

If you have visited Pease Park recently and haven’t had a chance to take our survey, please take a few minutes to complete it today.

Please Note:

  • The splash pad in Kingsbury Commons has reached the end of its season. Consistent with other splash pads in the city, it will remain off until March.

  • Five parking spaces in the Kingsbury parking lot will be unavailable starting on Monday, October 4th, while modifications are made to the trash dumpster enclosure.

  • In preparation for Luminarium, Kingsbury Commons will experience partial closures throughout the days, October 22nd - October 25th.
