Summer Stock Austin and Pease Park Conservancy are excited to present the world premier of How To Musical Theater, written and created by Allen Robertson and Damon Brown! Join Summer Stock Austin for their first annual movie premiere and fundraiser and a 21st century homage to the great MGM musical comedies of the 30s full of song and dance numbers and a whole lot of heart.
How To Musical Theater was written and created by Emmy Award winning duo Allen Robertson and Damon Brown, and is told through the eyes of a teenager named Marvin, who is questioning his purpose. Dropped into a musical number in a park, Marvin meets the contemporary version of some well-known musical theatre characters: Kelly, Reynolds, and O’Connor. Through a clever exploration of what it takes to make a musical, the short film celebrates the joy you feel when you “...have a life worth singing for.”
Prior to the screening, Summer Stock Austin will have current SSA company member performances and alumni performances, with special guest SSA alum, Donny T. Straight from his performances at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, Donny T performs portions of his Prince tribute for Austin audiences. The world premier of How To Musical Theater will begin at 8:30 pm and will be followed by a brief Q&A segment, until 9:30 pm when the event ends.
