Join Gene Kelly on a Technicolor joyride through the golden age of MGM musicals! Set in 1927, SINGIN IN THE RAIN (1952) is a film history fairy tale about the death of silent film. In the “talkie” era, singers and dancers suddenly are pulled into the Hollywood machine to fuel a whole new art form, the movie musical. Sometimes the journey is inspiring and joyful, and sometimes it is exhausting and exploitative. Through it all, these triple threats put on a show for us as they tap dance through the highs and lows of life. SINGIN IN THE RAIN is a monument to the movie musical’s past and a playful slap from its future.
Getting To Kingsbury Commons:
We highly recommend alternate forms of transportation such as public transportation, walking, biking, ride-sharing or carpooling if this is an option for you. If driving make sure to arrive early enough to find parking as spots are limited. There is a small parking lot in front of Kingsbury Commons and street parking is available on Parkway between Kingsbury Street and Lamar Blvd.
Throughout the week, additional parking is available at the Austin Recreation Center (1301 Shoal Creek Blvd) which connects to Pease Park by a 5-minute walk along the Shoal Creek Greenbelt Trail.
