The Hill Country Ride for AIDS Mile of Silence returns to Pease Park at Kingsbury Commons! The installation features a half-mile of red flags that will be on public display from April 12th through April 24th.
Join us Tuesday, April 19th from 4:30 - 7:30 PM (CST) to place a flag in honor of a loved one along the half-mile route. A brief dedication will be made at the front of the installation in Kingsbury Commons at 6:30 PM (CST).
The Mile of Silence is a multi-year collection of red flags placed along the route of the Hill Country Ride for AIDS that riders have dedicated to loved ones. The red flags include names of people lost to the AIDS epidemic, long-term survivors, and advocates past and present that are fighting to eradicate HIV. The collection of red flags expands each year to promote awareness of the disease and signify the importance of HCRA's mission: to raise funds for the nine agencies in Central Texas providing HIV/AIDS services and prevention efforts.
This downtown installation makes the HCRA accessible for many who have never heard of or participated in the Ride. Community members are encouraged to walk, run, or cycle through the park and reflect on those lost to AIDS and the support still needed for those impacted with HIV.
