Tackle Invasive Thursday in Lamar Terrace

  • Lamar Terrace 2869 Lamar/29Th Austin, TX, 78705 United States (map)

Join us in Lamar Terrace to remove invasive species like Ligustrum and nonnative species like Hedge Parsley from the ecosystem.

Help maintain a healthy ecosystem by removing species such as Bamboo, Nandina, Ligustrum, Chinese Privet, Catclaw, and Hedge Parsley that crowd out native species without providing sustenance for the fauna that live in the park. By removing these plants from Pease Park's ecosystem we can replace them with native species that do provide beneficial ecosystem services.

Please wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and bring a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. We will provide all other necessary materials.

We highly encourage alternative modes of transportation when getting to Pease Park. If you do drive please park at the Lamar Senior Activity Center parking lot (2874 Shoal Crest Avenue) then safely cross North Lamar Blvd. to enter Lamar Terrace. Please note that since this is Parks and Recreation Department property you are able to leave your car there while you visit Pease Park.

When you arrive at Lamar Terrace, please gather at the large charcoal Mystic Raven statue (2869 Lamar/29th) on the Southwest corner of North Lamar Blvd. and W. 29th Street.
