Beautifying the Gardens in Kingsbury Commons

Come get your hands dirty pulling some weeds. At this event we will be removing undesired ‘weed’ species from the gardens in Kingsbury Commons.

Cultivating an array of native plant species is beneficial for the wildlife in the park, but it also is a great way to keep the gardens looking their best. Many species of insects rely on native plants to provide food, shelter, and protection for their young. Non-native plant species often impede the availability of these important native plants by outcompeting them for space, light, and other natural resources, all while not providing the things the wildlife needs to survive. By removing these plants, we can make room for the plants that the wildlife does need and help make the park a more welcoming place for everyone, regardless of how many legs they might have.

Please bring water. Gloves and tools will be provided.
