Whether it's a small tear, a worn-out hem, or simply a favorite piece of clothing that needs a little love, mending allows us to slow down, reconnect with our garments, and practice patience. It's not just about fixing what’s broken; it’s about honoring the history of the clothes we wear, expressing our creativity, and reducing waste by extending the life of what we already own.

This hands-on workshop introduces you to a variety of mending techniques, from simple patching to intricate decorative stitches. Each method is designed to enhance your clothing, making repairs a chance to add unique, personal touches.

Whether you're mending out of necessity or simply to breathe new life into your wardrobe, you’ll find inspiration in the art of mindful mending.

About The Refugee Collective:

The Refugee Collective is a 501(c)3 nonprofit social enterprise employing refugees in a textile manufacturing studio and an organic farm. The Refugee Collective employs refugees and immigrants in fair-wage, dignified work through two social enterprises: a textile manufacturing studio and an organic farm. Our enterprises are built at the intersection of the traditional, respected skills of sewing and farming that refugees bring and a growing market for local food & textile production. Our primary focus of refugee livelihoods is supported through innovative initiatives including culturally desired food access for refugees, positive environmental impact through regenerative agriculture, sustainable textile manufacturing exemplified in our “Farm to Fiber” line of products, and individualized wraparound support for refugee team members.
