The Pease Park Conservancy has scheduled two volunteer days in the month of November, just as the leaves on the trees in Pease Park begin to turn colors and the days grow cooler and shorter. The volunteers for both of these events come from the park’s nearby neighbor, the University of Texas (UT).
First, Absolute Texxas will once again pitch in to beautify Pease Park on the morning of Saturday, November 1, beginning at 9 a.m. until noon. Absolute Texxas is a UT co-ed organization serving the Austin community and supporting Longhorn athletics. Volunteers at this event will focus their clean-up and other activities at the south end of the park, near the historic Depression-era picnic tables and the Tudor cottage.
Second, the Tejas Club and the Texas Sweethearts will help spruce up the park on the morning of Sunday, November 15, starting at 9 a.m. until noon. The Tejas Club is a long-standing UT social organization for men promoting the goals of scholarship, leadership and friendship, and the Texas Sweethearts is UT social organization for women advancing similar objectives.
The Conservancy will provide volunteers at both events with tools and gloves. Attendees are advised to wear loose clothing and close-toed shoes. The Conservancy will have free t-shirts on hand in appreciation for the volunteers’ time and effort.
