Eeyore's Birthday Party is a uniquely Austin celebration that takes place every year in Pease Park, typically on the last Saturday of April. This year's event will take place on Saturday, April 28th.
Beginning in 1963 as a spring party for the Department of English at the University of Texas-Austin, the event moved to Pease Park in 1974. The celebration is named after Eeyore, the depressed donkey in A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh. Early in the day there are games for children including a may pole, egg toss, and burlap sack races. As the day carries on, the event features cold beverages, live music, drum circles, unicycle football, colorful costumes, and is truly a throwback to the hippy culture. With that in mind, it's become one of the signature FREE events in Austin.
Pease Park Conservancy partners with Austin businesses T3 and Benchmark Bank to park cars at the corner of MLK & Lamar. Parking is $15 and all proceeds go right back into improving Pease Park. Parking is not available at the park so the parking lots at MLK & Lamar offer the closest location to the event. Come out and park with us, you'll be supporting a great cause!
