Pease Park Conservancy is excited to announce its first Chief Executive Officer, Kristen Brown. A native Austinite, Kristen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master of Public Affairs degree with a specialization in nonprofit and philanthropic studies from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin.
Most recently, Kristen served as the Executive Director of Austin Smiles - The Austin Plastic Surgery Foundation, and before that, as a Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Embassy San Salvador. Kristen previously ran her own nonprofit consulting firm, Simple Gifts Consulting, and prior to that served as Program Manager for the Oasis Foundation of Washington, D.C., the private charitable foundation of the UAE Ambassador to the United States. Kristen also worked as Assistant Staff Secretary for President George W. Bush at the White House.
Kristen returned home to Austin in 2016 after years of living in Washington, D.C. and overseas in San Salvador, El Salvador and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with her Foreign Service Officer husband, Ian. Kristen and Ian have two children and are excited to be settled back in their home town. Kristen also serves as Secretary on the board of directors of WeViva, an Austin nonprofit organization.
